Halting Active Water Leaks in Concrete: Pressure Injection and Crystalline Solutions

daumer-photo-blog

Once below-grade foundation walls are poured and backfilled, high groundwater tables often force continuous water streams through structural cracks and tie-rod holes. Because the water exerts negative hydrostatic pressure from the outside, generic surface-applied coatings lack the capacity to resist the drive, resulting in localized bond failure and blistering. To stop these streams permanently, the capillary tracts inside the concrete core must be completely blocked.

The Solution: Pressurized Polyurethane Injection and Chemical Crystallization Daumer manufactures a two-pronged emergency response system for managing severe below-grade water ingress:

  • Deep Capillary Penetration via PU Injection: To stop severe active leaks and structurally reinforce static fissures, the two-component, ultra-low viscosity DAUPRO WATERSTOP PUR-JET is injected into the concrete matrix. It functions perfectly over damp cracks and flows deeply into structural masonry voids to quickly eliminate water migration pathways.
  • Permanent Self-Healing Crystalline Shielding: Engineered for both positive and negative side execution, the cementitious matrix of DAUPRO WATERSTOP KRISTALIZE K-1 reacts with hidden moisture within the concrete pores. This reaction forms insoluble crystalline structures that permanently plug the capillaries. Its major advantage is its continuous “self-healing” attribute: the moment future micro-cracks develop and encounter moisture, the crystallization process automatically re-triggers to instantly seal the breach.
